Western Union's USDPT enters StableLens coverage — what we know so far
StableLens auto-detected USDPT, a US-dollar stablecoin branded to Western Union. It is early, thinly capitalized, and pending full methodology review — here is our initial, deliberately cautious read.
StableLens's discovery pipeline picked up USDPT, a US-dollar stablecoin carrying the Western Union name, and added it to our coverage on 17 July 2026. At detection it was small — a market cap in the single-digit millions — and it entered the catalogue flagged needs_review: auto-detected, not yet independently verified.
We are publishing this note precisely because it is early. A recognizable payments brand attaching itself to a stablecoin is the kind of event allocators want to see fast — but speed of detection is not the same as a verdict.
What we can say
- The token is live and indexed under the Western Union name.
- Its on-chain footprint is currently small relative to the majors.
What we cannot yet stand behind
- Reserves and attestation. We have not confirmed what backs USDPT, who holds the reserves, or whether an attestation exists.
- Issuer entity. A brand name on a token is not the same as a licensed, identified issuer of record.
- Redemption. No verified redemption terms.
Until those are reviewed, USDPT should be treated as unverified, regardless of the brand on the label. That is the honest position, and it is the one our methodology enforces before a full StableLens Score is published.
We will update this page as the review completes.
